Nestled in the shadows of Sheikh Zayed Cricket Stadium, a state of the art ‘Soccer City’ has risen to provide world class football training in Abu Dhabi. Opened in 2018 by His Excellency Aref Al Awani, General Secretary, Abu Dhabi Sports Council; the joint project by Abu Dhabi Cricket and Abu Dhabi Sports Council provided 8 new 5-a-side pitches open to the public.
Designed to be a first of their kind in the UAE Capital, work began in 2017 with planning for the project. CLD’s Approved Contractor Scheme (ACS) member Wallbank Fencing Ltd joined forces with SIS Pitches Middle East and with the help of CLD Fencing Systems designed and supplied a bespoke sports fencing system.
With work scheduled to start over 5,000 kilometres away from their Cheshire based manufacturing plant, getting it right first time was the only option for CLD Fencing Systems. Wallbank Fencing stepped into the role as the ‘boots on the ground’ liaising with SIS Pitches Middle East and helping to Project Manage and implement the design and installation of the scheme which included several site visits.
The work was completed on time and on budget in March 2018 and since then has proven to be a jewel in the crown for sports in Abu Dhabi. Having hosted a number of competitions, it continues to offer world-class facilities for men, women and children in the United Arab Emirates.
Utilising previous experience gained at other top flight football club projects around the world, CLD Fencing Systems knew the system had to be a marriage of a number of fencing systems.
With any world-class sporting facility, the need for quality and adaptability was key in the specification of the fencing systems.
We are thrilled to build new world-class facilities in Abu Dhabi with a view to increasing sports participation here in the emirate. Projects such as these are key to ensuring that the entire Abu Dhabi community is able to participate in year-round sports offerings.
